About the Event

Join us for a fascinating educational event about the utility of flow cytometry for the identification of inborn errors of immunity.

Flow cytometry plays a vital role in identifying patients with inborn errors of immunity (IEIs) and enabling prompt intervention. IEIs (previously Primary Immunodeficiency Disorders) are a heterogeneous group of hereditary immune system disorders. The diverse nature of these disorders can prove challenging for clinicians and immunologists alike. Because these genetic abnormalities result in a higher rate and severity of infections and expression of immune dysregulation, including inflammation and lymphoproliferation, early identification and characterization is critical to reduce complications and improve prognoses.

Dr. Roshini Abraham, Ph.D., is a diplomate of the American Board of Medical Laboratory Immunology (AMLI) and an Associate Editor for the Journal of Clinical Immunology, among many other significant contributions to the field of immunology, and she will be sharing her insight with us.

In this webinar, you will learn about numerous flow cytometric assays that aid in the identification and evaluation of IEIs, and the relevance of genetic testing and how it complements flow cytometry assays. Dr. Abraham will present case studies to elucidate the key learning points and empower clinicians, immunologists and flow cytometry technologists.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the concept of IEIs
  • Know about the flow cytometric assays used for the identification of IEIs
  • Appreciate the relevance of genetic testing for IEIs based on specific examples
